Generating Tracking URLs
Even though you've created your landing page or email blast, you still
need to map these efforts to an activity.
When you create an activity you generate activity URLs (also called tracking
URLs), the URLs that guide potential customers to your campaigns.
To create an activity:
Before You Begin: Publish
your landing page.
- From the Navigation pane, choose Marketing
> Campaigns.
- Click on the link for your campaign. The Campaign Summary page
appears.
- Click on the Activities
submenu.
- Click Create New.
- Enter a name and description for your activity.
- For tracking and reporting purposes, choose an activity
type:
- For online activities,
the URL format includes the campaign ID and an activity ID that are system
generated.
- For offline activities,
you can put in a keyword and then use the URL and keyword on promotional
items, print pieces, radio spots, and other media that require a simple
URL to remember to type in.

(Optional) Specify values for the advanced options:
- Format of URL Variables. Customize by instance to work with
Google Analytics, Omniture, or other web analytics
software.
- Include Campaign Name. Add your campaign name to the URL.
- Campaign Source. Type the name of the advertising network,
such as Google, Overture, etc.,
- Campaign Term. Type the keyword or search term for
this activity.
- Campaign Content.
Type the 1st line of ad text to track multivariate testing or versions
of the ad used.
- Activity Category. Specify another.
- Click Create Activity.
Once you have you tracking URL, use it in your activity.
For example, if you have a targeted email blast, edit the email blast
content to add a hyperlink to this URL.
